Lowlander not only wanted to retain more shelf space at Albert Heijn, but also to increase their visibility among their core target group. The challenge: how to activate consumers digitally and at the same time translate this into actual store visits.
We chose a digital approach that made smart use of location and behavior. With Smart Location Targeting, we reached consumers who both frequent the hospitality industry and regularly buy from Albert Heijn. This way we got close to the target group at the moments that mattered.
We then used social retargeting and creative rich media expressions to ensure repetition and recognition. The visuals not only emphasized Lowlander's flavor and botanicals, but also linked to their sustainable mission. In doing so, we built brand equity, while the call-to-actions referred specifically to the stores.
The campaign showed that digital visibility actually led to more store visits: people who saw the ads visited Albert Heijn more often than the control group. In addition, the number of website visitors grew and we generated valuable insights into who the Lowlander drinker is: mainly men aged 35 and over with an above-average spending pattern.
More importantly, the combination of creative expressions and smart targeting made Lowlander grow in both awareness and impact.
With this campaign we showed that digital shopper activation has a direct effect on both brand and visitors. Download now our white paper on how to strengthen your position on the shelf with Smart Location Targeting!
